CORVALLIS, Ore. – Drew Rasmussen and Mitch Hickey combined for a five-hit shutout victory over Utah Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman as the Beavers took the series with a 2-0 win in front of 3,280 fans.

Kyle Nobach and KJ Harrison drove in the game's two runs on a sacrifice flies, in the sixth and seventh innings, to help send the Beavers (32-14 overall, 14-9 Pac-12 Conference) to their fourth consecutive victory.

Hickey inherited a tense situation in the ninth, coming on in relief of Rasmussen with runners on first and second. He hit the first batter he faced, Wyler Smith, to load the bases. But he was able to induce the next batter, Wade Gulden, into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

The double play earned Hickey his ninth save of the season and sent Rasmussen to his fifth win. Rasmussen scattered five hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings.

The outing marked Rasmussen's eighth quality start of the season – he has 11 starts overall.

Dalton Carroll started for Utah and worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and two runs with four strikeouts and two walks. He was, however, saddled with the loss to drop to 5-7 this season.

Oregon State rapped out nine hits against three Utah (16-29, 7-16) pitchers, with Nobach and Christian Donahue finishing with two apiece. Jeff Hendrix extended his hit streak to a season-long 13 games while Donahue and Elliott Cary each extended theirs to seven games, respectively.

The win marked the first time Oregon State posted consecutive shutouts to open a conference series since doing so against Stanford in 2006.

The teams conclude the series Sunday with a 12:05 p.m. PT first pitch at Goss Stadium. Limited tickets remain for the finale and can be purchased at beavertickets.com or the Goss Stadium ticket office, which will open at 10 a.m.
