Beavers' Varsity 4+ Advances to Grand Final in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
The Oregon State women's Varsity 4+ crew made a strong showing on day one of the 38th annual San Diego Crew Classic for the Beavers today, qualifying for the grand final tomorrow.
The Beavers' V4+ finished second in the heat behind only USC's `A' boat. The second place performance in the heat, and the fifth best time overall, was good enough to get the Beavers into the grand final race tomorrow for the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup. The race is set to begin at 9:50 a.m. against UCLA, USC, Stanford, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Oregon State's other crews will also be competing Sunday in the petite finals for their categories. The Second Varsity 8+ boat will be OSU's first crews on the water tomorrow with a 7:40 a.m. start time against Sacramento State, Iowa, Alabama and Oklahoma. The Varsity 8+ boat will follow by taking on No. 11 UCLA, Oklahoma, San Diego, Purdue and Iowa at 8:40 a.m.
