Women’s Rowing Dominates Oregon State Invite
March 28, 2026 | Women's Rowing
LOWELL, Ore. – Beaver Women's rowing was victorious in five of six races at the 2026 Oregon State Invite, besting Gonzaga, Portland, Santa Clara and Seattle U in the team's first home regatta of the spring season.
It was a good day of racing for the team and a strong step in the right direction as we continue to progress through this season, Director of Rowing Michael Eichler said. It was great to get out and see WCC competition and I know the team is excited about how much speed it can add in the coming weeks.
Thank you to the visiting teams, OSU coaches and staff and the friends and families who made today special. It was one of the largest crowds we've ever had at Dexter and that energy made a real difference for our rowers.
The first race of the day saw the Beavers' third and fourth four compete against Gonzaga and Seattle, finishing second and third respectively after a close race near the top with GU's 3V4 finishing the course in 7:55.87, just ahead of OSU's third varsity four in 7:56.45.
OSU's first win came in the next race, as the second varsity four's 7:39.20 bested Gonzaga (7:44.82) and Portland (8:08.83), setting the stage for yet another win – this time in the 1V4 – who posted nearly a 15 second margin of victory.
After a strong performance by the 2V8 resulted in another win, the Beavers' first varsity eight dominated in a five boat matchup that included all visitors, racing 2,000 meters in 6:52.80, some 21 seconds ahead of second place Gonzaga (7:13.78), and 30 seconds ahead of third place Santa Clara's 7:22.62.
Rounding out the action was the Beavers' third varsity eight, completing the course in 7:33.94 ahead of Gonzaga and Portland.
Beaver women's rowing returns to action April 18 in Gold River, Calif., competing at the 2026 Big Ten Invite.
