ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Philip Ricci scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds as Oregon State defeated Alaska Anchorage 72-63 Saturday for seventh place in the Great Alaska Shootout.
The Beavers (2-2) built a 12-point first-half lead working the ball inside to Ricci and Brian Jackson, who together shot 9-for-11 and missed only one shot apiece.
Joe See hit a 3-point shot with 50 seconds left in the first half to give Oregon State its biggest lead of the half at 35-22.
In the second half, Alaska Anchorage (0-3) closed to 48-45 when Cody Gallatin hit the Division II Seawolves' fifth 3-pointer of the period. But Jackson completed a three-point play and then muscled in for a basket in the lane, starting a 10-0 run that pushed the lead to 58-45.
The Seawolves closed to 66-61 with 1:20 left, but Oregon State iced the victory with free throws.
Jackson finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
Peter Bullock led Alaska Anchorage with 17 points and nine rebounds.
