June 20, 2026 | Men's Basketball
CORVALLIS  – Guard Chris Johnson has signed with the Oregon State men's basketball team, head coach Justin Joyner announced Saturday.
Â
Johnson will join the Beavers as a senior after spending his junior campaign at UCF.
Â
Chris Johnson
Guard
6-foot-5
Senior
Houston, Texas
Â
Johnson joins the Beavers after spending his junior season at UCF. He appeared in 32 games for the Knights, making two starts. He shot 43.5 percent from the floor and 33.7 percent from 3-point range. Johnson scored in double-figures seven times on the year, including a season-high 17 against Vanderbilt in the season-opener. He also recorded 16 points at Cincinnati. Johnson spent his sophomore season at Stephen F. Austin, appearing in three games.
Â
"Chris Johnson is a major addition to our program," Joyner said. "CJ is a big, physical guard with top-level experience in the Big 12 and the NCAA Tournament, and that background has prepared him to make an immediate impact here at Oregon State. He is a potent scorer, and also a very good passer. CJ understands what winning looks like and what it takes to compete at the highest level. His size, toughness, and basketball IQ give him the ability to influence the game in a variety of ways, and we believe his best basketball is still ahead of him."
Â
Johnson started his collegiate career at Texas. He appeared in 17 games for the Longhorns, shooting 42.1 percent from the floor. He scored a season-high five points against Delaware State in Texas' season-opener. The No. 44 ranked player in his signing class, Johnson played his senior season at Montverde Academy in Florida. He opened his high school career at Fort Bend Elkins, where he averaged 19.5 points per contest as a junior.
