Pinnis Signs With Beavers
May 18, 2026 | Men's Basketball
CORVALLIS – Forward Peteris Pinnis has signed with the Oregon State men's basketball team, head coach Justin Joyner announced Monday.
Pinnis will join the Beavers as a sophomore after spending his freshman campaign at Providence.
Peteris Pinnis
Forward
7-foot-1
Sophomore
Salaspils, Latvia
Pinnis joins the Beavers after spending his freshman season at Providence. He appeared in 18 games for the Friars last season, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor. Pinnis went 2-for-2 at UConn, finishing that game with four points and four rebounds. He played a season-high 16 minutes against Florida, pulling down six rebounds.
"We are thrilled to welcome Peteris Pinnis to our program here at Oregon State University," Joyner said. "Peteris is a unique frontcourt player with tremendous size at 7-foot-1, but what really separates him is how well he moves and how hard he plays. He runs the floor extremely well, rebounds at a high level, and brings a physical presence that impacts the game on both ends every possession.
"He has competed at a very high level internationally for Latvia and has consistently produced against elite competition. In the FIBA U20 European Championships, he averaged nearly a double-double with 9.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, and he has continued to show his toughness and skill while playing professionally in Europe and most recently at Providence.
"Peteris gives us a player who can establish deep position and score around the basket, but he is also a very intelligent decision-maker who can facilitate from the perimeter and make plays for others. He combines physicality, feel, and versatility in a way that fits exactly how we want to play. Beaver Nation is going to love the competitiveness, toughness, and energy he brings to our program."
Prior to his collegiate career, Pinnis played internationally for VEF Riga in the Latvia-Estonia Basketball League. He averaged 7.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 season, recording four double-doubles. Pinnis recorded a career-high 18 points and 11 rebounds against Viimsi on Oct. 9. He has competed for Latvia at multiple youth levels, most recently in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket.
