GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Oregon State, with five players scoring in double figures and 64 percent shooting, opened the SoCon Holiday Hoops Tournament with a 92-57 victory over South Carolina State on Friday.
The Beavers (2-0) had a 25-point lead before South Carolina State (0-1) scored its first point. The Bulldogs shot just 33 percent from the field and only 27 percent in the first half.
Oregon State was led by seniors Ramunas Petraitis with 15 and Clifton Jones with 14. Adam Masten added 13, Deaundra Tanner 12 and Jason Heide 10.
While the Beavers hit nine of their first 12 shots, including five of six from 3-point range, South Carolina state missed its first six shots from the field plus two free throws and turned the ball over four times.
The Bulldogs were led by guard Mike Wiatre who scored 25 points, 20 of them in the second half. Duane Johnson added 10.
Oregon State led 50-20 at the half and the Beavers' widest lead was 47 points, at 75-28, on a layup by Iyan Walker with 10:01 left to play.
It was the Beavers' largest winning margin in nearly 11 years since a 106-66 victory over Washington in February 1989.
