
Beavers Complete 17-Point Comeback to Beat WSU

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team came back from 17-points down in the second half to defeat Washington State 74-64 Wednesday evening at Gill Coliseum. The victory marked the Beavers' third-straight double-figure comeback.
Josiah Lake II scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half, finishing 6-for-11 from the floor with five rebounds. Johan Munch recorded a double-double, ending his night with 18 points and 15 rebounds to go with three steals.
Olavi Suutela recorded 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting, while Keziah Ekissi had six points, five assists and four steals.
As a team, Oregon State shot 39.1 percent in the game, and 53.1 percent in the second half. The Beavers held a 44-36 advantage on the glass, and out-scored the Cougars 36-14 on points in the paint.
The Oregon State offense struggled to get going early on, as the Cougars led 8-2 at the game's first media timeout. The Beavers used a 6-0 run to take the lead mid-way through the first half, but Washington State answered with 11 unanswered points to snatch a 10-point advantage with two minutes left in the period.
WSU headed to the break leading 34-23.
The Cougars extended the lead to 16 in the second half, but Lake scored seven-straight points to the OSU back within single-digits. Washington State extended the advantage back to 17, but Oregon State roared back with a 12-0 run to get back within one.
The Beavers retook the lead with 5:55 to go, and the teams traded punches from there, until the Beavers exploded with another 10-0 run to go in front by eight with just over two minutes remaining. Oregon State was able to seal the win with clutch free throws in the closing minutes of the contest.
With the victory, OSU moves to 13-12 on the season and 6-6 in WCC play.
The Beavers will return home Saturday to take on No. 6 Gonzaga.
