
Beavers Drop Bengals to Wrap Nonconference

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team wrapped up nonconference play with a 76-57 win over Idaho State Thursday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Jordan Pope led the Beavers, matching a career-high with 25 points and setting a new career-best with eight assists. The guard finished 9-for-14 from the floor and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc.
With the win, Oregon State moves to 8-3 on the season, and 8-0 at Gill Coliseum. It marks the program's longest home winning streak to open a season since the 2014-15 campaign.
Dexter Akanno went for 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the floor. KC Ibekwe continued his strong run of games, finishing with eight points and eight rebounds. Josiah Lake II put up seven points and three assists, while Chol Marial tallied three blocks.
As a team the Beavers shot 50.9 percent from the floor, while holding the Bengals to 35.8 percent shooting. Oregon State held a 40-24 advantage on points in the paint.
Idaho State jumped out to an early 11-2 lead, but Oregon State battled back to level the score at 18. The Beavers used an 11-0 run to take a 29-21 advantage into the under-4 media timeout. OSU extended the advantage to double-figures, and headed to the break in front 36-25.
The Beavers scored eight unanswered points in the second half to open up a 61-42 lead. Oregon State led by 21 with two minutes to play on its way to a 19-point win.
Oregon State will open Pac-12 play on Dec. 28 when UCLA visits Gill Coliseum.
