Beavers Open Canadian Tour with Win

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Oregon State men's basketball team opened its summer tour of Canada with a 113-77 win over Trinity Western Tuesday evening in Langley, British Columbia.
As a team, the Beavers shot 65.3 from the floor in the game. Six Beavers finished in double-figures, led by DeShawn Gory, who narrowly missed a double-double, ending his day with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Jackson Rasmussen went 8-for-14 from the floor to put up 19 points. Chris Johnson scored 18 on 7-for-10 shooting, while Daniel Freitag tallied 17 points, going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Kahu Treacher tallied 16 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor. Josiah Lake II hit all five of his shot attempts to end the evening with 11 points.
As a team, the Beavers recorded 29 assists, compared to 13 turnovers. They also totaled 17 steals in the game.
Oregon State exploded out of the gate, scoring the first 10 points of the game, and led 28-9 at the end of the first quarter. The second frame featured more of the same, as the Beavers took a 71-22 advantage into the intermission. Oregon State shot 74.4 percent from the floor in the first half.
The Beavers maintained control of the contest throughout the second half, claiming the win by 36.
Oregon State will continue its Canadian summer tour with a pair of games against University of Victoria, to be played Thursday and Saturday.
