Opening Comment...
"We needed a true away game where we were going to get tested. It was a fantastic atmosphere. It was great to see the Beaver fans there, our Portland folks who don't necessarily get down to Corvallis to see the games. It's nice to win this game."
On putting this game together...
"There were a couple of things I wanted to accomplish here. First and foremost, I wanted to play a game in Portland for our fans who are up here. I wanted to get an away game that would test us a little bit. I thought playing in a smaller gym like this would help us kind of recreate what we feel on the road in a conference game. And then finally, I want to be a good citizen of the State of Oregon. I remember back when I was at Brown and I was coaching at a school that was about this size gym-wise and getting high-major schools to come in and play was really hard to do. I always vowed that when I got my job I would make sure that I would try and schedule some games because this is good for the entire state. It's just not good for Oregon State University. It's good for Portland State and it's good for the State of Oregon."
On not getting the perimeter game going...
"What I think happened is that this was a game for the guys down low. When you score 56 points in the paint, that's what you do. You go score points in the paint. You don't need a perimeter game when you can score in the paint like that."
On falling behind by nine points early...
"We were down nine because we came out as if this was going to be a game at Gill and didn't realize the Vikings were going to play a really hard game because this is one of the biggest games of their season. We had to adjust our intensity level, which I thought the guys did terrific using the 1-3-1 for some energy and then we righted the ship."
On why the 1-3-1 was so successful...
"I think we just needed an infusion of energy. I thought we were pretty lethargic. This is about the time. Our record now is 6-2 and we've been playing pretty well, but we were due to have a bad game. It was exasperated that we were on the road, in a small gym. I'm not saying that I expected this, but it was bound to happen. So we have to learn how to win these games anyway and that was a good sign."
On the team's strong play after his technical...
"For you guys who know me, I didn't swear at the guy. He screamed at me for making a call. So I was like `you can't scream at me' and he gave me a technical."
