Gill Coliseum
Corvallis, Ore.
Team Notes
With a 6-1 record, Oregon State equaled its best start to a season since the 1980-81 team opened with 26 straight wins. Other seasons the Beavers started 6-1 since 1980 (with record before their second loss) include: 1981-82 (6-1), 1984-85 (15-1), 1986-87 (7-1), 1997-98 (6-1) and 2002-03 (6-1).
The attendance of 5,518 is the largest crowd for a non-conference regular season home game since Dec. 17, 2006 when No. 12 LSU visited Gill Coliseum. It's also the largest crowd for a nonconference regular season home game under Coach Robinson (the previous best was 5,436 against Texas Southern on Nov. 21, 2010).
This is the Beavers fifth consecutive non-conference home win dating back to last season, the longest streak since winning 19 straight non-conference home games between the 1997-98 and 2000-01 seasons.
The Beavers have given up only 41 points combined in the first half the past two games (20 at Towson, 21 vs. Montana).
Oregon State has gone with the same starting lineup in every game this season with Ahmad Starks and Jared Cunningham at guard, Joe Burton and Devon Collier at forward and Angus Brandt at center. The Beavers used three different starting lineups in their first seven games last season.
Player Notes
Sophomore Ahmad Starks tied a career high with four three-point field goals made, which he has now done four times in his career. He most recently knocked down four threes on March 10, 2011 against Arizona. -
Starks also tied a season high with 16 points, falling just short of his career high of 18 he poured in against California on Feb. 26, 2011.
Sophomore guard Roberto Nelson tied a career high with five assists. He achieved that mark on March 5 of last season against Arizona State.
Sophomore forward Devon Collier also tied his career high with three assists. He has reached that number five times in his career, most recently in the Beavers' last game at Towson (W, 66-46).
