Team Notes
With the win, the Beavers have opened the season 2-0 for the first time in 11 years. The 2000-01 squad began its season with four consecutive wins.
Starters for the Beavers were Devon Collier and Joe Burton at forward, Angus Brandt at center and Ahmad Starks and Jared Cunningham at guard.
Tonight's game was Oregon State's third-ever matchup against a team from the state of Alabama and its second-ever win. The Beavers defeated Samford, 87-66, on Dec. 21, 1974 and lost to Alabama, 59-49, on Dec. 22, 1998.
Joe Burton's layup at 10:49 in the second half gave Oregon State its largest lead at 41 points (87-46).
The Beavers' 58 first-half points are the most in a half since Oregon State scored 67 in the first half of a 116-78 win over UC San Diego on Nov. 25, 1997.
The team's 93 points are the most in a game since Oregon State poured in 93 against Mercer on Dec. 21, 2006 in a 93-62 victory.
The 33-point victory was the Beavers' largest margin of victory since they downed CSU Bakersfield by 35 (74-39) on Dec. 6, 2009.
Oregon State had five players in double-figures as Joe Burton (14), Devon Collier (14), Angus Brandt (13), Jared Cunningham (17) and Ahmad Starks (10) all scored more than 10 points. Last year, the Beavers were 1-1 in games where five players reached double digits in points.
