Oregon State at Stanford
January 29, 2011
Maples Pavilion
Stanford, Calif.
Head Coach Craig Robinson
On the game ...
"This was disappointing. What was even more disappointing than losing the game was how hard we were playing for a change. For what I thought was the entire game. And then you miss layups and have too many turnovers and foul trouble and you can't win on the road that way."
On the 1-3-1 defense getting the Beavers back in the game ...
"It was effective and then when we turn them over, we go down to make a layup, we either throw it away or miss the layup. If you make some of those in the first half, you're up, and they are playing a little bit tighter. But it was the other way around."
On how Stanford built a lead ...
"I think the frustration level is high when you miss the pointblank stuff. When you miss easy baskets and you have all of these opportunities to go away, it's just sort of a kick in the stomach."
On having a chance to win the game after battling back before halftime ...
"We blew this game. We lost this game. Not to take anything away from them. They played well and they took advantage of the mistakes we made. But it felt like this was a game we could have won."
On fast break opportunities that didn't result in points ...
"In the heat of the game, you might not make the right decision every time. They are all trying to do their best, but sometimes that's not good enough."
On the Jared Cunningham's play ...
"He got into foul trouble and one of those fouls he shouldn't have gotten. It made it tough on him. He's only a sophomore and he needs to learn that we need him in the game so it's better to let the guy go than to pick up another foul."
On going back home to play Washington ...
"It doesn't get any easier. We are playing big time basketball."
On the difference tonight compared to Thursday against California ...
"When you have a young team, I take the bigger picture look. We got a lot of running for some of our young guys. It's good. They are getting experience. But both games are bad because we lost."
