OREGON STATE HEAD COACH Craig Robinson
On the game...
"There are a lot of good things you can take away from this game and the key point of this game was at the end of the first half when they had that blitz of lay-up after lay-up. They pulled away from us. If you look at the scores, we played them even almost in that second half."
On the stuff Washington was able to get at the rim...
"There was a lot of plays there that were just better plays that we could defend. Those players are tough, but there not bad kids, they know how to bring it. They are also very athletic, as well as they have a little bit more skill then people like give them credit for. There were some plays where we were just outmanned. Right now we are trying to be that team. I thought for probably 3/4 of that game, I was pleased with what I saw."
On playing them again...
"There are a lot of good teams in this league, and they are starting to play well at the right time. I don't think we are playing poorly at all, and there was a stretch in the game that they were able to spread it out. We were able to keep our toughness and ability to come back. We had an opportunity where we could have cut it to eight from twenty. I saw some toughness out there, and I liked the fact that we were making foul shots. We have to play them again next week, so there is a week to learn exactly what we have to do."
OREGON STATE SENIOR Roeland Schaftenaar
On giving up 80 points...
"Obviously they are good athletes. They got in the lane too easy, too many lay-ups, too many close shots."
On losing his final game at Gill Coliseum...
"It's a tough one to lose. Especially because it is Senior Day and also because we could have been in 4th place if things went the right way."
On the Huskies potential to go to the NCAA tournament...
"They have 21 wins, they should be in the tournament and I think they will be."
OREGON STATE SENIOR Calvin Hampton
On playing the Huskies in the first round of the Pac-10 tournament...
"Like Coach said, it's hard to beat a team three times in a season. We know how they play, we have just got to be ready for it."
On the play of Quincy Pondexter and Matt Bryan-Amaning...
"They were very good. They were tough to match up with. Quincy is very athletic and long. Matt does a lot of work down there. He doesn't get as much credit as he should."
On cutting the lead to nine only to have Washington hit a three...
"That was sort of like a back-breaker. We tried to keep our heads up and keep playing. It's not the end of the world, we still have a lot of basketball to play. I'm talking about the tournament and the post-season."
WASHINGTON HEAD COACH LORENZO ROMAR On the game... "I thought that on the two games here in Oregon we really did things as a team. It was good to see that. 30 field goals, 18 assists, and 7 turnovers makes us feel pretty good about our effort on the offensive end because we were so concerned with the 1-3-1 trap. The first half we did a good job, I thought, defensively, the second half they did a good job of getting it to [Roeland] Schaftenaar and getting some plays." On any advantages to seeing Oregon State again in five days... "I don't know. We've played them twice now, once early, once late, so we do what we do and they do what they do. I don't see there being any radical changes on either side." On beating the same team three times... "It depends on who the team is. There was a year we beat UCLA three times, there was a year we beat Arizona three times, there was a year Washington State beat us three times so we'll see what happens. I will say I was involved in a situation where we lost on senior night by 44 points when I was at St. Louis to a Kenyon Martin led Cincinnati team and the next week we upset them. So this win means nothing now, It's a whole new day come Thursday." On the seven turnovers... "Our number is 13. If we can get 13 or below with as many possessions as we have and as much as we try to run, if we have 13 or below then we're doing okay. So seven is good especially against this team because they lead the league in steals."
