Oregon State vs. George Washington

Gill Coliseum
Corvallis, Ore.
Head Coach Craig Robinson
On the game ...
"It's frustrating obviously and very disappointing to find ourselves in this predicament each time. We talked about getting off to a good start. We worked on a couple of things in practice and what I'm finding is we are the proverbial balloon. We squeeze one end and it pops out on the other side. I have to do a better job of getting these guys to do everything right. We really play well when we are behind, but you can't be a good team playing from behind all of the time."
On starting the second half slow ...
"We made ridiculous mistakes. Our first play we had a play drawn up and then we have a turnover. And then they go down and score. We come back down and we turn the ball over again. You can't win that way. You just absolutely cannot. I need to make some kind of change. I have always said the bench makes you hungrier so we might need to change up some things."
On assessing the team through 10 games ...
"I'd give them an `F' right now. I'm trying to look at the things we are doing well versus the things we are doing poorly. There are some positive things and some negative things. If I was grading us fairly, I'd probably give us a `C-` and I wouldn't give us a `D' because of the effort. I know those guys are trying. If I was upset with the effort, I'd probably give us a `D+'."
On how close the team is for Pac-10 play ...
"I think we are closer than we have been at this time since I've been here. It's a funny thing. Even though we are losing games that we shouldn't necessarily lose, I do feel that we are a better team this third time around in the non-conference than we've been. Going into each game, I feel better this year than I have before. If a couple of turnovers, a couple of starts, a couple of plays go a different way, you're up eight instead of down eight."
Sophomore guard Jared Cunningham
On the game ...
"We turned the ball over a lot and couldn't do too much on the offensive end. They played good defense and they got the win."
On the problems defensively ...
"We really weren't talking enough on the defensive end. They had some good shooters and knocked down a couple of shots and got the early lead and that's what really hurt us. We just need to fight back and just play hard."
On the first-half comeback and starting the second half slow ...
"It was real tough. You put that effort out and then you don't succeed in the end, it hurts. We just need to come out at the beginning of the game and get the lead and keep it."
Sophomore center Angus Brandt
On where the team is after 10 games ...
"I think we are very close. We are right there. We are just waiting for something to spark. It's frustrating because we are so close. We just need to keep working hard. We are a young team so we can start getting wins."
On the mental state of the team at the end of games ...
"It's to never give up. That was evident. We had two comebacks in this game. Whenever we are down, we still think we can come back and get the win. But I think we come back and then we take a step back when we do get back in the game. I think that's part of being inexperienced."
