Women's Rowing Sweeps at Portland Fall Classic

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Oregon State women's rowing team swept the Varsity 8+ race at the Portland Fall Classic Sunday. The race was held along the east bank of the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
OSU's "A" crew turned in an excellent performance in the Women's Open 8+ division covering the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 36 seconds. The Beavers' "B" crew was also strong completing the course in 18:04.
In addition to the Open 8+ races, OSU also had two crews in the Open 4+ division and four pairs in the Collegiate 2-. The Beavers also had first place finishes in the Open 4+ and the Collegiate 2-.
"I was happy with how the whole team approached the event today," said head coach Emily Ford. "We were focused and professional and it showed up on the water."
The Beavers will return to competition in the spring.
