Recap | Final Stats | Notes
OREGON STATE HEAD COACH Craig Robinson
About the performance in the second half…
“We talked prior to the game about how well of a shooting team this was and we had to be much more aware of their outside shooters than any other team that we have played this season. I thought the guys did a great job making adjustments, they got a few too many wide open looks in the first half, and I feel that our guys made some good adjustments and made them do some things to miss shots. They had a few too many offensive rebounds, which kept the game close. I am really happy with the toughness that our team showed, and this was really a tight game.”
On the first half of the game…
“We had an opportunity at the beginning of the game to set some of the tempo and they did a real good job against our one-three-one and got some easy baskets. I thought that we had a lot of opportunities to get a couple of steals that bounced out of our hands and into theirs, which were easy buckets. These are the kind of things that make me worry because that gives a team the momentum and confidence against our defense.”
JUNIOR GUARD Calvin Haynes
On shooting on the line in the last four minuets…
“At the end of practice we concentrated on our streaks and trying to get three in a row. Last year we weren't great at free throws but towards the end of the game that's what won us the game. “
On going inside to Joe Burton in the second half…
“He pretty much told us that it wasn't more of going down to Joe it was more of us being more aggressive and us keeping them off the board. We were doing what we have to do to win the game, which is get it down low, cut hard and make the free throws and we did that.”
FRESHMAN GUARD Jared Cunningham
On the last two plus minutes of the game and scoring free throws…
“Just after the huddle coach told us to be aggressive and we just came out and played hard and wanted to win the game from the beginning. In the end it came down to the free throws, we hit them and that's a win.”
COLORADO HEAD COACH JEFF BZDELIK
On the overall game…
“It was a very disappointing game. We didn't contain the ball very well. We tried three or four things defensively, but in the end you have to just get down and guard.”
On Colorado's defense…
“I thought we were very selfish defensively. We didn't help one another, we didn't talk to one another and we had too many gaping holes in our defense.”
On toughness…
Toughness is getting down and guarding people. It's helping each other defensively, taking a charge. Toughness is finishing at the rim. And right now that's the difference between wouldas, couldas and shouldas.”
