
Oregon State Defeats South Dakota, 62-47

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Calvin Haynes and Roeland Schaftenaar had 14 points each to lead Oregon State to a 62-47 win over South Dakota at the Duel in the Desert tournament Saturday night.
Daniel Deane added 10 points for Oregon State (1-1).
South Dakota (0-2) was led by Louie Krogman, who had 11 points. Jake Thomas and Steve Smith added eight points each.
The Coyotes kept it close early, trailing 16-13 midway through the first half after a basket by Kendall Cutler. But Oregon State ended the first half by outscoring South Dakota 16-8 over the final 10 minutes to take a 32-21 lead into halftime.
Oregon State extended its lead to 47-28 seven minutes into the second half before the Coyotes went on a 15-3 run to climb as close as 50-43 with 5:18 left.
But Beavers pulled away to extend the lead back to double digits and record the win.
