Beaver Softball Heads to Eugene for Matchup with No. 12 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon State softball will face No. 12 Oregon for the third time this season on Wednesday, facing the Ducks in a midweek matchup at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene.

One week after breaking the program's single season home run record, Jaeya Butler broke yet another Oregon State record, this time for RBI in a single season. Down 3-2 in the fifth inning of game one against Saint Mary's, the junior second baseman hit a 3-1 pitch over the wall in right center, her 20th home run and 51st RBI of the season. A solo shot, Butler currently holds a five-homer advantage for top mark in the West Coast Conference and is tied for eighth nationally. Adding another one in game two, Butler's 52 RBI this season also leads the conference by a margin of five as she's hitting .383 while slugging .870.
MADDY'S MASHING:
Madison Weir has found her groove down the stretch of this 2026 season and had another strong weekend against the Gaels, hitting 4-9 (.444) across three starts in Moraga. She tallied a pair of multi-hit performances to open the series, which included a home run in game one and double in game two. The team's primary catcher in 2026, Weir has started 27 of her 29 appearances this season, hitting .284 with seven doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI.
FIFTH INNING:
Five of the Beavers' 10 runs against Saint Mary's came in the fifth inning, which proved to be pivotal, particularly in games two and three. After scoring twice in the second, Butler's blast to set the RBI record came in the fifth inning of game one. In game two, a bases loaded walk by Butler and Lici Campbell single plated the team's first two runs of the game, both of which coming in the fifth. In game three, Oregon State once again loaded the bases and scored its first runs of the game in the fifth inning, this time when Alliyah Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and Campbell hit a sacrifice fly that landed on the warning track. Though OSU was trailing entering the fifth in all three games played against Saint Mary's, the Beavers are 16-3 when leading after five innings played this season.
DEPTH:
Head Coach Laura Berg went deep into the Oregon State lineup in game three against the Gaels, as five different student-athletes entered the contest off the bench: Ella Dardis came on as a pinch runner in the fourth inning while Rodriguez entered in the fifth at second base. A flurry of substitutions started the seventh inning, with Kaylie Stauffer pinch hitting and smacking a single to left field. Genevieve Beacom then pinch hit and advanced the runner before Tessa Hogue came on later in the inning as a pinch runner.
Rodriguez, a freshman from Hanford, Calif., was the only Beaver bench player to record multiple plate appearances and made an impact, twice getting hit by a pitch, one of which drove in a run with the bases loaded.
LEAVING THE PARK:
Oregon State's offense has been fueled by the long ball in 2026, as the Beavers currently lead the West Coast Conference with 51 home runs across 46 games, hitting at least one in 34 different contests. The team's season-high single game total is four and there have been 14 multi-homer games. Led by Butler's 20, Tristian Thompson has a career-high 11 and Howey isn't far behind with a career-best nine; Weir and Campbell both have three and Lewis is at two.
AGGRESSION ON THE BASE PATHS:
Across 47 games in 2025, Oregon State baserunners combined to steal 44 total bases. Through 46 games in 2026, that number is up to 47, with four different players swiping at least eight bags - a number which is double that of last season. Lewis leads the way with 13 thus far and Camrynn Gordon isn't far behind at nine, while both Butler and Mya Harrison sit at eight apiece.
FOURTEEN:
Head Coach Laura Berg is now in year 14 leading Beaver softball in 2026, the second longest tenured head coach in program history. Only Kirk Walker (1995-2012; 18 seasons) has spent more time at the helm of the program. Of the eight head coaches in program history, Berg ranks second behind Walker for career victories, while her conference winning percentage is the top mark.
BACK THE PAC:
After two seasons as affiliate members of the WCC, the Beavers will return to the Pac-12 following the 2026 season. Though Washington State and Gonzaga don't have softball programs, the Beavs will resume Pac-12 play with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State. New members will officially join July 1, 2026.
