Beavers Strike Early To Win Finale, Series Over Cal State Fullerton
April 19, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – AJ Singer homered for the second consecutive game, and he and Nyan Hayes collected three hits apiece to send sixth-ranked Oregon State to a 10-2 series-clinching win over Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Eric Segura scattered three hits and two runs in six innings, winning his fourth game of the season as Oregon State improved to 30-8 on the year. The Beavers reached the 30-win plateau for the 17th consecutive season.
Singer hit a second-inning home run during a four-run Beavers' frame. His sixth home run of the season, it came in back-to-back games after the senior hit a grand slam on Saturday. He also singled in the first and doubled in the fifth, coming just a triple shy short of a cycle.
Hayes, meanwhile, made his first start since April 7 at Washington State and proceeded to go 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. He singled in the second, sixth and seventh innings.
The Oregon State offense recorded a season-high 16 hits in the win, surpassing its previous season-best against Xavier in March.
OSU went up 2-0 in the first, highlighted by Adam Haight's first hit of the game, a run-scoring single. Glassco bunted in a single in the second, then Singer pushed the Beavers to a 6-0 lead with the three-run blast. That chased Cal State Fullerton (19-19) starter Dylan Smith, who lasted just 1 2/3 innings and took the loss to drop to 2-4 on the year.
The Beavers took that 6-0 lead to the sixth where OSU tacked on three more thanks to a run-scoring single by Easton Talt and a two-run double by Bryce Hubbard. Oregon State, up 9-2 entering the eighth, added its final run of the game on Haight's second run-scoring single of the afternoon.
The top six batters in the Beavers' lineup combined to go 11-for-28 with seven runs scored and nine RBI.
Segura was backed by Isaac Yeager, Zach Kmatz and Noah Scott in relief. The trio combined for three scoreless frames, scattering two hits with three strikeouts.
Oregon State stays home to take on Oregon Wednesday with a 5:35 p.m. PT first pitch at Goss Stadium.
