Beavers Drop Midweek Matchup To Oregon
April 22, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. — Easton Talt homered, Trey Morris struck out four over 3 1/3 scoreless innings and Bryce Hubbard and AJ Singer drove in ninth-inning runs, but No. 6 Oregon State could not overcome three errors in a 7-3 loss to No. 19 Oregon on Wednesday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Oregon State (30-9) jumped in front in the first. Talt, the leadoff batter, turned on a 3-1 pitch from Cooper Strawn and drove it 368 feet to right field for his fourth home run of the season.
Jacob Galloway, meanwhile, finished 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Singer reached three times with a hit and two walks. The Beavers also drew seven walks in the loss.
Morris, the freshman left-hander, limited the Ducks to two hits and worked around three walks before being lifted with one out in the fourth. Reliever Wyatt Queen (1-1) took the loss, charged with three runs, one earned, on one hit and four walks in 2 1/3 innings.
Oregon (29-11) broke through in the sixth against Queen. Angel Laya walked, stole second and advanced on a walk to Burke-Lee Mabeus. Naulivou Lauaki Jr. drew a bases-loaded walk after Jack Brooks struck out looking, and with two outs Jax Gimenez lined an RBI single to third base to tie it. Zach Edwards replaced Queen and allowed an unearned run when Brayden Jaksa reached on a fielding error by Glassco. Ryan Cooney followed with a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 3-1.
The Ducks added two in the seventh. Laya scored from third and Maddox Molony scored from second on Lauaki Jr.'s two-run double down the right-field line off Isaac Yeager. Oregon scored twice more in the ninth on a throwing error by Paul Vazquez
Oregon State answered against Ducks closer Devin Bell in the bottom of the ninth. Galloway doubled down the right-field line to open the frame and Tyler Inge singled to left. Two outs later, Hubbard singled to short to score Galloway, and Singer followed with an RBI single to right-center to bring home Inge. Bell retired pinch-hitter Nyan Hayes on a flyout to left to close out the game.
Toby Twist (3-0) struck out the side in the fifth to earn the win for Oregon, which used 10 pitchers.
Oregon State stays at home this weekend when the Beavers open a three-game series with Hawai'i. First pitch Friday night is slated for 5:35 p.m. PT.
