Beavers Complete Comeback with Walk-Off Grand Slam
March 28, 2026 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State recorded hits in just two innings on Saturday afternoon, but they had the biggest one: a Jada Lewis walk-off grand slam that completed comeback, series-clinching 8-6 win.
Trailing 6-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, OSU got its first hit in six innings from Mya Harrison. She moved to second on a Paige Bambarger walk and the bases were loaded after Nikki Donahue battled back from an 0-2 count and singled to left.
Rylei Trujillo pulled the Beavs a run closer on an RBI walk and Lewis appeared to do the same before a called strike made the count 3-1. The call on a borderline pitch was a blessing in disguise for the Beavers. Lewis hammered her second home run of the season on the next pitch and the celebration was on at Kelly Field.
The Beaver offense got hot early for the second straight game, once again off the bat of Morgan Howey. After Lici Campbell and Tristian Thompson walked with two down, Howey smashed the first pitch she saw to left, a three-run bomb to make it seven RBI in eight innings played after finishing last night's game with a double, home run and four RBI.
The Toreros countered with a pair of runs in the second – stringing together singles following an error - and solo shot in the fourth before breaking things open with a three run sixth to go ahead 6-3.
After Howey's home run, the Beaver bats went cold for a spell. OSU worked deep into counts and made good contact on several swings but did not manage a hit until Harrison's in the seventh. The Beavers did work three walks during that time and San Diego made outstanding plays on would-be hits from Lewis and Thompson to maintain their lead until the seventh.
Kimberlee Aleman battled during her time in the circle, allowing six runs but just one earned on eight hits. She struck out four Toreros and walked just one. Amelia Streuber tossed two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.
Oregon State will look for the sweep on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets
