Butler and Thompson Homer in Loss to San Diego

CORVALLIS, Ore. –Jaeya Butler hit her 16th home run and Tristian Thompson reached double-digits for the season as Oregon State softball (14-23, 2-1 WCC) fell, 8-2, to San Diego in the series finale Sunday.
Butler's long ball came in the first inning, crushing a ball over the fence in left field to bring her within one of the single season program record, 17, set by Frankie Hammoude back in 2021. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native finished her day 1-4 with that home run, an RBI and run scored while tallying three putouts in the field.
Thompson's blast came in the fourth inning on another solo shot, accounting for the Beavers' other run. Finishing the game 2-3, Thompson is now hitting .250 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI this season while slugging .569.
Camrynn Gordon and Nikki Donahue both hit 1-2 as Donahue also got on via a walk. Lici Campbell was 1-3 and Jada Lewis was 1-4 with a seventh inning double in a contest that finished less than 24 hours after her walk off grand slam in game two of the series.
Bailey Murray started and threw 1.1 innings before being relieved by Amelia Streuber, who allowed six hits and struck out two. Haydn Milley pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out two as the Vancouver, British Columbia, native improved her season ERA to 3.07 across 12 total appearances and 29.2 innings pitched.
San Diego scored three in the second inning and five in the fourth to take the win.
