FULLERTON, Calif. – Oregon State softball is headed to California for its next tournament, playing five games across three days of competition the 2026 Judi Garman Classic, hosted by California State Fullerton.
Oregon State Schedule at the Judi Garman Classic:
Feb. 27: East Texas A&M / 3:30 p.m. / Live Stats
Feb. 27: Cal State Fullerton / 7:30 p.m. / Live Stats / Stream
Feb. 28: No. 4 Florida / 12 p.m. / Live Stats
Feb. 28: California / 5 p.m. / Live Stats
March 1: No. 8 UCLA / 9:30 a.m. / Live Stats
MANY MEETINGS… AND SOME NOT SO MUCH:
Oregon State softball will play a pair of games against former Pac-12 foes UCLA and Cal this weekend in Fullerton, each matchup being played over 130 times in program history. Against hosts Fullerton, the Beavers lead the all-time series 15-11, while the Florida Gators have only appeared on a Beaver softball schedule five times in program history. Leading off the tournament, however, is a new opponent in East Texas A&M that Oregon State has never matched up with in its 51 seasons.
BOMBS AWAY:
Jaeya Butler is off to a hot start in her junior season, and that continued last weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic where she hit .500 across 22 total at-bats, improving her season average to .474. With two doubles, four more home runs and 11 more RBI, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native enters this weekend's tournament with 11 home runs and 23 RBI across 16 games played in 2026, ranking tied for first in the nation in home runs; both marks lead the West Coast Conference.
For her performances, Butler was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday, her first All-Conference weekly award since joining the Beavers from Michigan State ahead of the 2025 season.
NO-NO:
It only took 13 games for Bailey Murray to throw her first collegiate no-hitter, as the Redondo Beach, Calif., no-hit Bethune Cookman in a commanding win on February 21. A five-inning game after an offensive explosion, Murray walked two and struck out three on her way to the no-hitter and now finds herself one of just 15 athletes in program history to throw with a no-hitter.
Across six appearances and 18.1 innings of work at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, Murray posted a 2-1 record with a 0.76 ERA, holding opposing hitters to a .083 average and went four-consecutive appearances without allowing a hit. She now ranks second in the West Coast Conference with a 1.37 ERA this season and holds a 3-1 season record with two saves and 20 total strikeouts across 30.2 innings pitched.
BUT CAN SHE GET ON BASE?:
Camrynn Gordon had the best tournament of her young collegiate career, hitting 8-11 (.727) with a triple and .667 on-base percentage across five games played, also driving in one run, scoring six runs and stealing two bases. Gordon was one of two Beavers with an on-base percentage north of .600, as Mya Harrison finished another strong weekend of play hitting .545 with .643 on-base percentage, hitting safely six times and walking three times while stealing a team-high three bases.
HOW GRAND (SLAM):
Tristian Thompson hit a grand slam in the final game of last weekend's tournament against Long Beach State, the Beavers' first of the season, which helped her to a team-high four RBI; she finished the game 2-3 with one run scored. After finishing last season with 10 home runs and 32 RBI, the Waco, Texas, native is now up to five home runs and 16 RBI this season, homering in two of her last three appearances.
SIX GAMES, FOUR ARMS:
Across six games last weekend, four different Oregon State pitchers worked in the circle. Led by Murray's six appearances and 18.1 innings, Amelia Streuber pitched to a 2-1 record and 2.06 ERA across three starts and 17 innings of work. Haydn Milley made her Oregon State debut, striking out five across two appearances (four innings pitched) and holding opposing hitters to a .143 average while tallying a 1.75 ERA; Kimberlee Aleman was also credited with 0.2 innings pitched.
YEAR 14:
Head Coach Laura Berg is now in year 14 leading Beaver softball in 2026, the second longest tenured head coach in program history. Only Kirk Walker (1995-2012; 18 seasons) has spent more time at the helm of the program. Of the eight head coaches in program history, Berg ranks second behind Walker for career victories, while her conference winning percentage is the top mark.
BACK THE PAC:
After two seasons as affiliate members of the WCC, the Beavers will return to the Pac-12 following the 2026 season. Though Washington State and Gonzaga don't have softball programs, the Beavs will resume Pac-12 play with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State. New members will officially join July 1, 2026.
