Butler Homers Twice as Beavers Split Games on Opening Day of Judi Garman Classic

Game one: Oregon State 18, East Texas A&M 7 (final/5)
Oregon State's bats came alive early and often against the Lions, scoring five in the first inning alone on the way to a season-high 18 runs. Jaeya Butler paced the Beaver offense, hitting 3-5 with a double, home run and three RBI, while Camrynn Gordon (3-4) and Morgan Howey (2-3, two doubles) also recorded multi-hit games.
Tristian Thompson hit her second grand slam of the season on a 3-2 count in the third inning, her sixth homer of the season, tying with Howey for the team-high mark in RBI (four). The Waco, Texas, native is now up to 20 RBI on the season.
Of the 10 Oregon State hitters to take a trip to the plate, nine recorded a hit, as Genevieve Beacom tallied the first multi-RBI game of her Oregon State career thanks to a first inning double that scored two; Beacom crossed home plate soon after off a Kaylie Stauffer single to center field.
Tessa Hogue (1-3), Mya Harrison (1-3, two walks) and Gordon also drove in runs against East Texas A&M as the Beavers finished the five-inning game with 14 hits.
Amelia Streuber started and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs as Bailey Murray struck out three across 3.1 innings of relief, earning her fourth victory of the season.
Game two: Cal State Fullerton 4, Oregon State 3
Hadyn Milley started the second game of her OSU career in the Beavers' second matchup of the night, which was delayed an hour due to the game ahead starting late. The British Columbia, Canada, native went 3.1 innings against the Titans, giving up six hits and two runs (zero earned) before Murray once again came on in relief, allowing just three hits and striking out two across 12 batters faced and 3.1 innings of work.
Butler homered yet again to make it 13 on the season, smashing a 3-0 pitch over the wall in right to drive in two more runs, leveling things in the third inning.
After both teams battled for the next two, OSU regained the advantage off the bat of Lici Campbell, who homered in the fifth inning to give the Beavers a 3-2 lead; Campbell finished 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, having doubled and scored earlier in the game on Butler's long ball. Friday night's performance marked her first multi-hit performance of the season.
Fullerton leveled thanks to a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth and walked it off on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Beaver softball continues action at the Judi Garman Classic on Saturday, facing No. 4 Florida and the California Golden Bars before rounding out the five-game weekend with a Sunday matchup against No. 8 UCLA.
