Beavers Sign Trio of Players
November 13, 2025 | Softball
CORVALLIS –The Oregon State softball team has added a trio of outstanding signees to its program, head coach Laura Berg announced Thursday. Hailey Nguyen, Shayla Santolucito and Jordin Washington will all join the Beavers this summer in preparation for the 2027 season.
Hailey Nguyen
Morgan Hill, Calif. (St. Francis HS) • Pitcher
Nguyen joins the Beavers as a pitcher out of Morgan Hill, Calif. She was invited to Round 2 of the USA Softball High Performance Program in 2023 and was a TCIC Team USA U16 Bronze medalist in 2024. Starting her high school career at Live Oak High School, Nguyen helped guide her team to the California Regionals in 2023, the year she was the BVAL Freshman of the Year as a varsity player. In the classroom, Nguyen made the honor roll in 2023 and earned the Scholar Athlete Award in 2024.
"I chose Oregon State because of the coaching staff and the outstanding softball program," Nguyen said. "I love Corvallis, and I can't wait to get to work with the Beavers."
Shayla Santolucito
San Ramon, Calif. (California HS) • Catcher
Santolucito is a five-time East Bay Athletic League All-Conference honoree as a catcher at California High School. A two-year varsity team captain, she was named Livermore Stampede Tournament MVP in 2025, and helped guide her team to a North Coast Section title in 2023. Santolucito plays club ball for Batbusters Ching 18U, making the 2025 Boulder IDT All-Tournament Team. She helped the squad to a runner-up finish at the 2025 SoCal Champions Cup Tournament, and has served as a team captain.
"When I visited OSU, it felt like home," Santolucito said. "The campus was beautiful and everyone was so welcoming. I loved that it had a big football program but still had that small college town vibe. Most importantly, I chose OSU for their outstanding softball program. The coaches truly invest in their players and the team has such a strong culture. I know I will grow and learn so much just being part of this program."
Jordin Washington
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (Rancho Cucamonga HS) • Middle Infielder
Washington is ranked among the Top-20 middle infield prospects in the nation according to Line Drive Softball. She currently plays her club ball with Explosion Premier, and previously played with Corona Angels, where she consistently placed in the top-five in tournaments and won the 2019 PGF National Championship. As a high school player at Rancho Cucamonga, she was named First Team All-Baseline League in 2023 and 2024, leading the league in batting average, slugging percentage and stolen bases as a freshman.
"The primary reason I choose Oregon State is the coaching staff," Washington said. "Coach Berg was one of the best to ever play this sport. She had a great career and an even better personality. When I took my official visit to OSU it immediately felt like home, the intensity level of the program was unmatched. After watching Oregon State play over the years I fell in love with the way her players took on the game. It also doesn't hurt that campus is very beautiful."
