Women's Hoops Hosts Westmont for Free Exhibition
October 28, 2024 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Beaver Nation will get its first look at the 2024-25 Oregon State women's basketball team on Friday when the team hosts Westmont at 6 p.m.
The Beavs will feature five returners from last year's Elite Eight run – including starters Kelsey Rees and AJ Marotte - along with seven newcomers. The team has an international flair and Oregon roots as six players come from outside the U.S. while three of the six Americans are from the Beaver State.
Head Coach Scott Rueck enters his 15th season at the helm of the program as Oregon State's all-time winningest head coach. The two-time OSU graduate has 296 wins to his name at OSU and 584 between his time in Corvallis and at George Fox.
The exhibition is free and seating is open with the exception of courtside seats, which are reserved for their season ticket holders, and a section reserved for player guests. The game will not be broadcast or streamed so fans who want to watch should make sure to be in attendance.

MEET THE VISITORS
Westmont College went 12-16 last season with an 8-12 record in PacWest play, but returns a solid core that includes leading scorers Sage Kramer (13 ppg) and Bailey Fong (12.7 ppg). The Warriors are led by head coach Kirsten Moore, who coached Westmont to two NAIA national championships before the team transitioned to NCAA Division II. This will not be the team's first foray into the Willamette Valley, as the Warriors visited Western Oregon for a season-opening tournament in 2023-24.
HOME SWEET HOME
Beaver Nation has long been among the best women's basketball fan bases in the nation, but they took it to another level in 2023-24. Last year Beaver Nation set several new attendance records Beavs as the team went 18-2 at home.
DOMINATING DEFENSE
The Beavers are known for their lockdown D under Scott Rueck. Oregon State has allowed 59.2 points per game over the course of his tenure and has held opponents under 65 points in 70% of its games. The Beavs are 254-68 (.789) when holding the opponent to 65 points or fewer and 213-37 (.850) when holding opponents under 60 in the Rueck Era.
