
Beavers Drop Matchup in Pullman

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Oregon State men's basketball team lost a hard-fought battle with Washington State 65-58 Thursday evening in Pullman, Wash.

Jordan Pope led the Beavers with 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor. KC Ibekwe had 12 points and eight rebounds, including nine-straight points in the second half that helped OSU get back within striking distance.

Christian Wright hit a pair of 3-pointers to end his night with eight points and five rebounds. Â Gavin Marrs and DaJohn Craig both made their Pac-12 debuts in the contest.

The Beavers played the game without the services of Dexter Akanno, who did not dress due to injury.

Oregon State jumped out to an early lead, going in front 11-4 at the game's first media timeout. The Beavers extended the edge to double-figures at the under-12 media break.

The Cougars battled back with a 6-0 run to get back within two with five minutes to go before the intermission. The Beavers headed to the break leading 24-21.

Washington State took its first lead of the game early in the second half. The Cougs went in front by 11, but nine-straight points from Ibekwe cut the lead to two.

Oregon State got within one, but could not retake the lead, as WSU claimed the victory by seven.

The Beavers will head across the state on Saturday for a matchup with Washington.
