
Thompson Brothers Set to Compete at FIBA World Cup

Oregon State men's basketball alums Stephen Thompson Jr. and Ethan Thompson will both compete for Puerto Rico at the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
The event, which will take place across the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, is slated to start with group play on Friday. Puerto Rico will begin its run Saturday against South Sudan, before facing Serbia on Monday. The team will wrap up group play on Wednesday against China. All three of Puerto Rico's group matches will take place in Quezon, Philippines.
Stephen Thompson Jr. graduated from Oregon State as the program's fourth all-time leading scorer and the program's leader in career 3-pointers. The guard was selected to the All-Pac-12 Second Team his senior year, and helped the Beavers make the NCAA Tournament in 2016. He averaged 14.6 points per game over the course of his collegiate career, and shot 42.5 percent from the floor.
Ethan Thompson ended his time with the Beavers seventh in program history for career points, and first in career games started. The guard was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection in 2021, and led the Oregon State on its remarkable postseason run that year, as the Beavers won the Pac-12 Tournament and made it to the Elite 8. Overall, Thompson averaged 13.5 points per game for his career, including a mark of 15.7 ppg in his senior season.
