Â
SERIES OUTLOOK:
• Oregon State and Arizona State will meet to conclude the 2023 regular season.
• The two sides are meeting in the final series for the first time since the 2016 season - OSU swept that two-game set which was also played at Kelly Field.
•OSU will be looking to snap a three-game skid to the Sun Devils, who swept last season's series at Farrington Stadium in Tempe in 2022.
• When these sides last met at Kelly Field, the Beavers took two of three from the then-10th-ranked Sun Devils.
• Seeding is still up for grabs a week before the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament in Tucson, which will be hosted at Arizona's Hillenbrand Stadium.
Â
ARIZONA LOOKBACK:
• The Beavers opened the weekend with a 9-4 win over the Wildcats.
• Abby Doerr launched three homers - including a pair in the series finale - and drove in five.
Â
SALUTING THE SENIORS
• Prior to Sunday's game, OSU will honor its two graduating members: Frankie Hammoude and Tarni Stepto.
• The pair helped carry the Beavers to Oklahoma City last year for the second time in program history.
Â
HAMMOUDE, THE HOME RUN QUEEN
• Frankie Hammoude broke the school's record for home runs in a career with 53 after her shot to center in the finale over No. 9 Washington
• She broke Tarrah Beyster's mark of 52, which stood untouched since she graduated in 2000.
•The Oakland, Calif., native has slugged double-digit homers in each of her four full seasons in Corvallis: 11, 17, 15 and 10.
• She sits in first for homers in a season with 17, set in 2021. Not to be outdone, her 15 round-trippers in 2022 are the fourth most in a season.
Â
Â
FROM THE PLATE:
• After slugging a trio of homers in Tucson, Abby Doerr leads Beavs with 11 on the season. Her 30 runs batted in also paces the team.
• Frankie Hammoude trails Doerr by just one home run and is second in RBI as well with 25 to her credit.
• Grace Messmer's bat has heated up against the always-tough Pac-12 opponents. The Cloverdale, B.C. product has reached base safely in 17 of 18 league games and multiple hits in four of those as well as a pair of four-hit series.
Â
Â
FROM THE CIRCLE:
• OSU has a pair from the 2022 WCWS squad: Tarni Stepto and Sarah Haendiges.
• Stepto leads the staff with 113 Ks - including a season-best of 10 against Cal in the series finale.
• Ellie Garcia's shutout of Oregon marked her first start in which she did not allow a run. She was perfect through 4.1 frames before surrendering a single to right field in the fifth.
• In her two starts against the Ducks, Garcia allowed just three hits and fanned five.
