Beavers Drop Sunday Affair
April 30, 2023 | Softball
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Abby Doerr's pair of homers were not enough to win the series finale over Arizona as the Oregon State softball team dropped the Sunday afternoon affair by a 6-3 score.
The Wildcats separated themselves by plating five across the middle three frames for the difference.
Doerr drove in all three of the Oregon State (13-27-1, 4-16-1 Pac-12) runs off the two home runs – one two run and a solo shot – to highlight the offense. While in Tucson, she tallied three home runs and drove in five runs.
Two more OSU hitters – Des Rivera and Eliana Gottlieb – got at least a pair of hits. Rivera had a 3-for-3 day at the plate with a double. Gottlieb added a 2-for-4 line for the Beavers.
Tarni Stepto – the starter – was charged with the loss (4-14-1) after allowing four runs – three earned – on five hits in three innings of work but struck out a pair. Ellie Garcia surrendered a pair of runs in three frames' worth of relief, where she yielded a pair of hits and issued a walk.
Oregon State will welcome Arizona State to Kelly Field for the season's final series this upcoming weekend. The three-game set is set to start on Friday with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
