Varsity Eight Leads Women's Rowing in Final Day of Pac-12 Invite
April 10, 2022 | Women's Rowing
HENDERSON, N.V. - The No. 18 Oregon State women's rowing team concluded the weekend of racing Sunday with a win in the Varsity 8 over No. 3 Cal, No. 15 Penn, No. 16 SMU.
The Pac-12 Invite at Lake Las Vegas saw tough conditions on Sunday morning which moved the races to later in the day. Despite the strong head winds and choppy waters, all four OSU boats were able to put up strong performances in their respective events, including the varsity 4 who closed their margin on Cal from Saturday's competition.
The Beavers started the day with a fourth-place finish in the 2V8 race with a 7:35.26 time. OSU's first varsity eight posted the fastest time of the day with a 7:07.84 to finish first by three seconds over Penn.
The Beaver varsity four boat finished third behind California and SMU and ahead of Penn by 12 seconds while the 2V4 boat finished with a time of 8:00.24 which was good for second during the final race of the day.
