Beavers Sweep Dexter Lake Invite
April 23, 2022 | Women's Rowing
DEXTER LAKE, Ore. - The No. 14 Oregon State women's rowing team swept the competition on Saturday during the Dexter Lake Invite. All four of the Beaver boats finished in first over Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Portland and San Diego.
While the conditions were challenging with a 6-8 mph crosswind and rolling chop, the sun was out and the Beavs had a great day of competition in all events.
The Beavers began the morning with a first-place finish in the 2V4 race with a 7:52.2 time. OSU's first varsity four had a great start to their race and were leading by two lengths at the 700 meter mark when they caught a boat stopping crab that inhibited them from rowing for up to 18 seconds. The Beavs fought back to make up for this deficit by posting a time of 7:33.0 and taking the lead by over a second.
Oregon State's second varsity eight boat added a 6:43.3, twelve seconds ahead of Gonzaga and posting the largest margin over the field of competition. The final race of the day was highlighted by the Orange & Black's V8 consisting of AnnaRuth Neville (cox), Muryn Greene, Gretchen Thompson, Zoe Adamson, Sierra Bishop, Amelia Sabin, Jane Smeins, Kathryn Clemens and Hannah Robinson (bow) victory with a time of 6:29.6.
UP NEXT
The Beavers hit the road for their Iowa race, competing against Central Florida, Iowa and Minnesota on Friday, April 29 in Iowa City, Iowa.
