
Beavers Fall to Texas A&M in Road Matchup

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Oregon State men's basketball team dropped a road contest to Texas A&M 72-54 Sunday evening in College Station, Texas.

Jordan Pope tallied 15 points and five assists to finish in double-figures for the ninth time in his 10 collegiate games. Dzmitry Ryuny also scored in double-figures, ending the game with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Michael Rataj put up nine points, while Dexter Akanno had six.

Justin Rochelin and Christian Wright both made their Oregon State debut in the contest, after missing the start of the campaign due to injury.

The two sides battled back-and-forth early on, as the Aggies took an 11-8 advantage into the game's first media break. Texas A&M led 20-14 with eight minutes to go before the intermission.

The Aggies extended their advantage to eight, but Oregon State responded with an 8-0 run to level the score at 22, prompting a Texas A&M timeout. Ryuny came through with back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Beavers in front 28-26 with a minute left in the half.

Oregon State scored the final eight points of the opening period to head to the locker room up 30-26. Pope and Ryuny both tallied 10 first-half points.

Texas A&M retook the advantage to start the second half, taking a 45-35 lead. The Aggies jumped in front by 20, before Oregon State battled back to get within 13 with five minutes to play. Texas A&M held on to take the win by 18.

The Beavers will return home for three-straight nonconference games, beginning Thursday when Seattle U visits Gill Coliseum.
