
Vernon Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Freshman Mychael Vernon was tabbed Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. This is the first honor of her career.

Vernon helped lead the Beavers to its first sweep against Arizona State since 2017.

The Ossining, New York, native registered back-to-back double-doubles on Feb. 11 and 12. She posted 18 kills and 16 digs in game one and 18 kills and 12 digs in game two – both dig numbers were the third-highest on the team in each game. Her 18 kills were both team-highs in each game.

The freshman outside hitter led all OSU players with a weekend-high 36 kills while hitting a combined .217 in both games. She also posted a team-high 42.0 points between the two games.

Vernon added six blocks, three assists, and two service aces on the weekend.

She is currently seventh in the conference with 3.41 kills per set and 25th in the Pac-12 with 58 kills.

Oregon State returns to action on Friday at 6:35 pm (PT) in Tucson, Arizona at the McKale Memorial Center against Arizona. The match can be watched on the Pac-12 Network.
