Four Volleyball Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Success

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Four Oregon State volleyball players have earned WCC All-Academic honors, the conference office announced Thursday. Lauren Rumel was named to the All-Academic team while Annika Hester, Yasemin Narlioglu and Alondra Paz were recognized as honorable mention selections.

In order to qualify for the All-WCC Academic teams, student-athletes must post a minimum 3.20 GPA based on the most recently completed term, be a starter or important reserve, have a sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year at the institution and participate in at least 50% of the team's competitions.

Rumel, a speech communication major, was recently named First Team All-Conference after ranking third in the WCC for kills (383), kills per set (3.78), points per set (4.2) and fourth in total points (423). Thursday's announcement also marks two-consecutive years that the Tucscon, Ariz., native has been on the WCC's All-Academic team.

Hester, who's majoring in political science, was also a Second Team All-Conference selection thanks to 201 kills and 81 blocks this season, which included a Defensive Player of the Week award and two double-doubles.

Narlioglu is a business administration major who played in 89 sets as a sophomore, tallying 181 digs and rattled off double-digit dig totals in seven of her last appearances, which included a season-high 19 at Saint Mary's on Nov. 6.

Paz, an Oregon native who is majoring in accountancy, averaged 1.97 digs per set and recorded 15 aces across 64 sets played this season.

Oregon State volleyball recently concluded its 2025 campaign with a 19-9 record and third place finish in the WCC standings.
