Beavers are 3-0 in Italy
COMO, Italy – Oregon State made the journey to its final stop of this summer's Italian Tour on Thursday, as the team traveled from Venice to Como.
Along the way, the Beavers stopped in Verona to take in the sites and have lunch. Once arriving in Como, the squad took a funicular transport to the village of Brunate, which overlooks the entire Como region, as well as part of Switzerland. After that, the team had an opportunity explore the city of Como on their own.
Located in the Alps, Lake Como is widely known as one of the most beautiful destinations in all of Europe. The scenic views and clear water have brought numerous celebrities to move into the area, most notably actor George Clooney.
The Beavers are currently 3-0 in Italy, and will look to make it a clean four-game sweep on Friday, when they play their final game. The squad has made countless memories on and off the basketball court, seeing incredible sights in Naples, Rome and Florence.
Possibly no day better encapsulated the Beavers' trip to Italy than Wednesday, when the squad enjoyed a tour of Venice in the afternoon, before hitting the basketball court in the evening.
"It was a perfect gameday," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck Wednesday evening. "To take a water taxi into Venice and experience one of the most interesting and unique cities in the world, and to know in the back of your mind you get to play a game that night. For someone who loves basketball, it was a perfect day."
The Beavers will enjoy the final day of their international tour on Friday, as the team takes a boat tour of the lake, before closing out their four-game schedule by taking on Basket Costa. That game will be played at 9:30 a.m. PT, rather than the previously scheduled 10 a.m.
