UPDATED: Beavers to Face Top Competition at Longhorn Invite

UPDATE: The Longhorn Invite will now begin on Friday evening as Saturday's predicted mid-morning winds have shifted. Tonight's racing will begin with third varsity eights, followed by second varsity fours, first varsity fours, second varsity eights and finally concluding with varsity eights.
CORVALLIS – Ranked No. 18 in the nation, the Oregon State University women's rowing team hopes for better conditions this week after being canceled at the Clemson Invitational a weekend ago. The Beavers are again on the road as they prepare for the Longhorn Invite in Austin, Texas at Walter E. Long Park on Saturday, April 27.
The Beavers are again traveling five crews – Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+ - to compete against seven other schools across two sessions of racing.
Of the schools in attendance all but one are ranked in the most recently released poll on Row2K.com; No. 4 Texas, No. 10 Virginia, No. 11 Southern California, No. 13 Iowa, No. 16 Indiana, No. 18 Oregon State, No. 20 Oklahoma. Unranked Notre Dame is receiving votes rounding out the field of competition in Austin.
The one-day event features two sessions of four-lane cross-conference racing to Walter E. Long Park. Of the teams competing at the regatta five of them competed at the 2018 NCAA Championships a season ago.
The first session of races is slated to begin at 6:00 a.m. PT with the second session scheduled for 8:40 a.m. PT, and consists of varsity eights, second varsity eights, varsity fours, second varsity fours, and a combined race of novice and third varsity eights crews.
