Thompson Jr. Selected To Academic All-District First Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stephen Thompson Jr. was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 8 Men's Basketball Team, as selected by CoSIDA, on Thursday.

CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

Thompson Jr. earned his Oregon State bachelor's degree in digital communication arts in three years with a cumulative GPA of 3.57. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in speech communication and sociology.

A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Thompson Jr. was a Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection in 2017 and 2018 and was selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court in 2018.

He has played 114 games at Oregon State and is sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,659 points. His 219 3-pointers are the most in program history.
