Hammoude Dominates Day One in Long Beach

Long Beach, Calif. – Freshman Frankie Hammoude dominated opening day of the Stacy Winsberg Tournament with two homeruns, six hits and eight RBIs to lead OSU to two victories on Friday in Long Beach. The team's 7-0 start this season is the best start the program has had since the team went 8-0 in 2003.
GAME ONE vs FRESNO STATE
Hammoude repeated her first at bat from last weekend by sailing a full-count leadoff homer over the left field fence to give the Beavers an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second.
Two innings later, in her second at bat of the game, Hammoude would fire a two-run homerun out past the center field fence.
Maia Rader would get things started for the Beavers in the fifth inning with a walk. Shelby Weeks would single through the middle. Rader and Weeks went on to steal second and third followed by Missy Nunes being walked. Hammoude would return to the plate and hit a two-RBI single up the middle.
Weeks stole her 45th and 46th career bases during the game, moving her into second in OSU History for career stolen bases.
Mariah Mazon started in the circle and get the win for the Beavers finishing with six strikeouts. This is her fourth win of the season.
GAME TWO vs LONG BEACH STATE
Oregon State didn't waste any time getting on the board in game two as senior Jessica Garcia singled through the left side in the top of the first. Garcia would steal second to be in scoring position for Hammoude to step up two batters later and hit a RBI single up the middle, giving OSU a 1-0 lead.
Weeks and Garcia both single in the top of the third and then advanced on Nunes' hit to be in scoring position as Hammoude stepped back up to the plate. Hammoude hit her seventh and eighth RBIs on the day with a single through the right side extending the Beavers' lead to 3-0.
The Beavers would strike again in the fourth following Kayleen Shafer getting hit by a pitch. Izzy Owen would advance Shafer to second followed by Rader hitting an RBI single into right center.
Long Beach State would score two in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Beavers lead in half, but would force LBSU to leave three stranded to get out of the inning.
Meehra Nelson would start in the circle and get credit for the 4-2 win after striking out four batters.
The Beavers will take on Cal Poly Saturday, February 16 at 9 a.m. PT and will wrap up the day against Mississippi at 2 p.m. PT at Easton Stadium on UCLA's campus in Los Angeles.
