
Reichle, Thropay, Van Calcar Named Scholar Athletes of the Month

Trio earn honor for December
CORVALLIS – Oregon State Athletics is proud to announce Zach Reichle, Janessa Thropay and Greta Van Calcar as December Scholar Athletes of the Month.

Reichle, a junior from Wilsonville, Ore., has started all eight games this season and is averaging 10.1 points, while shooting 54.0 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc. He in the College of Business majoring in Business Information Systems with a 3.94 GPA. Reichle was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and the prestigious National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court following his sophomore season.

Van Calcar is a senior from Palisade, Colo., who has competed in ten events during her cross country and track & field career. She is enrolled in the College of Forestry and is majoring in Renewable Materials with a 3.32 GPA overall. Van Calcar collected a top-50 finish at the Pac-12 Championships in November and owns the school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:46.75.

Thropay is a senior from Chino, Calif., who has appeared in 50 games over the course of her career. She is a Speech Communication major with a 3.78 GPA, and is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team selection. Thropay converted her first career 3-pointer in the season-opener this year, and set a career-high with 10 points vs. La Salle in 2018-19.
