Staton Signs with Beavers
April 23, 2026 | Men's Basketball
CORVALLIS – Center Xavion Staton has signed with the Oregon State men's basketball team, head coach Justin Joyner announced Thursday.
Staton will join the Beavers as a sophomore after spending last season at BYU.

Staton joins the Beavers after spending his freshman season at BYU. He saw action in nine games, before missing the latter portion of the season due to injury. The center scored his first collegiate points against UConn in a closely fought 86-84 defeat. Staton also recorded two blocks against Holy Cross in his second collegiate game.
"We are thrilled to welcome Xavion Staton to Oregon State University," Joyner said. "Xavion is an elite-level rim protector with tremendous upside, and we believe he has a chance to show the country just how impactful he can be on the defensive end of the floor. Xavion brings high-level experience along with a background as one of the top prospects in the country. His length, mobility, and natural timing allow him to dominate the paint and impact the game in ways that don't always show up in the box score.
"What excites us most is the opportunity in front of him. Xavion is just scratching the surface of his potential, and we believe he is ready to take a major step toward emerging as one of the top big men on the West Coast. He plays the game with great energy, enthusiasm and pride, and his spirit and love for competing are contagious. We are incredibly excited about Xavion's future here in Corvallis. His versatility, combined with his overall character and everyday energy, make him a perfect fit for our program and the culture we are building. Beaver Nation is going to love the impact he brings on and off the court."
Staton was a four-star recruit out of Utah Prep, and was rated the No. 55 in the ESPN 100. He was the 2024 Las Vegas Gatorade Player of the Year, and averaged 13.8 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game during his junior season.
