Oregon State won the first meeting, 36-30, in a game that was played on Jan. 2, 1942 in Champaign, Ill. The Beavers won again on Dec. 29, 1976 at the Far West Classic, 80-58, at Portland Memorial Coliseum. Texas A&M won last season, 67-64, on Dec. 15, 2018 at Moda Center in Portland in the Dam City Classic. Ethan Thompson scored a game-high 20 points in the loss and Tres Tinkle added 17.

Oregon State is 10-20 all-time against current members of the SEC. This marks the 10th time the Beavers will play a current SEC team in a true road game. The Beavers are 1-8 in previous road contests with the win coming against Tennessee, 96-90, in overtime on Dec. 10, 1989 when Gary Payton was a senior.
