Beavers Set to Host Pair of Ranked Opponents

THE GAMES: Oregon State begins the final stretch of regular-season games all at Lorenz Field starting with UCLA on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. followed by USC on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

TICKETS: Tickets for all OSU home matches are available and range from $4-6.
COSTUME NIGHT: All youth dressed in costume on Thursday night will receive free admission with a costume contest taking place at halftime. There will also be Trick-or-Treating following the match.
MILITARY APPRECIATION: Sunday's match is OSU's Military Appreciation match. Active/Veteran Military receive free admission and OSU's ROTC Color Guard will present colors.
History with the Bruins:
- Thursday's game marks the 25th time OSU and UCLA will meet.
- All four of OSU's wins over the Bruins have come at Lorenz Field.
- The last time Oregon State defeated UCLA was in 2015 taking down the Bruins, 2-1.
History with the Trojans:
- Sunday's match will be the 27th time both programs will meet.
- USC leads the series with OSU's last win coming in 2011 in a 1-0 overtime match.
- OSU has defeated USC twice at Lorenz Field.

Offensive Mindset:
- Oregon State has outscored opponents 30-14 this season.
- OSU has recorded 232 shots this season through 16 games - in 2018 OSU only recorded 131 shots on the season.
- The Beavers have 25 assist this season coming from 12 players compared to last season only having one total assist.
- Oregon State has taken 78 corners this season.
- Redshirt sophomore McKenzie Weinert is tied for sixth in goals (nine) and sits eighth in points (21) and ninth in shots (48) in the Pac-12
- Freshman Brianna McReynolds has been a force for OSU this season scoring five goals (tied for second on team and 19th in Pac-12) and leads the team with five assists (tied for 12th in Pac-12). - McReynolds was also the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17 and named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
- McReynolds became the first Beaver to record a hat trick since 2011 after scoring three goals against Houston on Sept. 12. She also tallied an assist to finish with seven points.
- Abby Schwartz moved up the scoring list to be tied with McReynolds after scoring two goals against ASU on Thursday.
Dominating Defense:
- Oregon State has started the same back unit for the first 14 games (Ellsworth, Fried, Salveter and Studer) with sophomore Bridgette Skiba in goal. With Fried out, Fonsen stepped in to fill the left back position vs. ASU and Arizona.
- The back unit has only given up 208 shots this season (13 per game).
- As a whole, OSU has posted six clean sheets with Bridgette Skiba recording five-solo shutouts (tied for ninth in OSU season history).
- Skiba currently sits tied for second in the Pac-12 for solo-shutouts (five), fourth in goals-against average (.850), fourth in saves (55) and fifth in save percentage (.797). Skiba was named Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week on Oct. 8.
- OSU sits fourth in the Pac-12 for fewest goals allowed (14) and goals-against average (.840).
- As a defensive unit, OSU sits 51st in the nation in goals-against average.
- The Beavers defense have added to the offensive stance with Fried, Studer and Fonsen each scoring at least one goal. Dayton, Fonsen, Fried and Salveter have also each recorded an assist on the season.
New Era Under Kagan:
- 2019 marks the first season for head coach Matt Kagan who joins the Beavers after spending the prior two years as the associate head coach at Mississippi State.
- During his first season at MSU, the Bulldogs posted the best record the program had had in 16 years.
- Kagan has been a member of nine coaching staffs that have led teams to the NCAA Tournament - three of those teams have advanced to the Sweet 16.
- Kagan started his professional career in 2004 at Assumption College in Massachusetts before taking the reigns of Worcester State from 2005-08.
The Staff:
- Kagan brings in three distinguished coaches to join his staff.
- Jenny Ruiz-Williams was a four-year letterwinner at UNLV and a two-time All-Mountain West Selection while helping the program to their first ever NCAA appearance.
- Ruiz-Williams was a member of the Mexican National Team when they won bronze at the Pan American Games in 2003, 2011 and 2015. Ruiz-Williams scored the game-winning goal in the bronze-medal game in 2011 against Columbia.
- Ruiz-Williams joined the Seattle Reign FC in 2013 before competing in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup with Mexico.
- Nick Stirrett joins the Beavers staff working primarily with the goalkeepers after spending the last three seasons at the University of Illinois where he helped the Illini finish fifth in the Big Ten.
- Prior to his time at Illinois, Stirrett helped lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to become the 2015 NCAA National Champions.
- Stirrett also spent two seasons as the head men's coach at the University of Mount Union.
Newcomers:
- The Beavers welcome nine newcomers to the 2019 roster, seven freshman and two transfers.
- Five newcomers have combined for 34 of OSU's 85 points to date (McReynolds - 15, Schwartz - 11, Conrad - 4, Galceran and Salveter - 2).
- Freshman Marley Salveter has started every game for the Beavers this season to date with 1143 minutes played. McReynolds and Herrera have both started 14 games this season, while Schwartz has started 10, Galceran seven and Conrad one.
Last Week at Arizona State:
- Oregon State defeated ASU, 3-1 in Tempe for the first time since 2011.
- Abby Schwartz scored two goals - the first time she has scored since Sept. 8.
