Beavers Finish Strong at the Covered Bridge

LOWELL, Ore. – Two Oregon State crews recorded victories and the Novice 4+ finished first overall at the Covered Bridge Regatta on Dexter Reservoir Saturday.
"It was a great day of racing from the Beavs," said interim head coach Allison Foster. "The Novice 4 showed huge improvements from last week and it showed in their performance, finishing first by 20-seconds."
The Orange and Black Novice 4, powered by Mackenzie Rice, Ellie Case, Sara Tully and Mikaela Siegel, and coxswained by Jordan Koetje started the morning off with an impressive victory in heat 2 beating second place Oregon.
In the afternoon, the Beavers cruised through the course to claim victorious in the Novice 4 Finals beating six other collegiate crews, including Oregon, Humboldt State and Southern Oregon.
The Beavers Varsity 4 consisting of Izzy Holmes, Lihani du Plessis, Diana Oppenheimer and Liz Matzdorf, and coxswain Cassy Lozano, started the morning off strong as well finding themselves atop of heat 1, beating Oregon (8:11.750) by nearly 30-seconds with a time of 7:43.310.
In the finals, the Beavers secured themselves a second-place finish in front of crews from Humboldt State, Oregon, Sonoma State and UC San Diego.
" The Varsity 4 had a good showing as well. It is good for us to get in more racing that way we have more experience."
The Beavers return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Clemson Invitational.
