HILLSBORO, Ore. – Christian Donahue tripled, drove in two and finished 3-for-5 to lead the seventh-ranked Oregon State baseball team to a 6-2 win over Central Arkansas in front of 4,852 at Ron Tonkin Field.

The game was a part of the Dam City Showcase with the Oregon State football team practicing at neighboring Hillsboro Stadium leading up to the matchup with the Bears.

Donahue highlighted his day with a run-scoring triple to the gap in left in the sixth inning. It was his team-leading fifth triple of the season and the 22^nd of the year for the Beavers, who lead in the nation in that category.

Donahue also singled twice and drove in two runs for the Beavers, whose offense tallied ssss hits off two Central Arkansas pitchers.

Nick Madrigal extended his hit streak to seven games with two hits, while Cadyn Grenier went 2-for-3.

Oregon State jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two, scoring in the first when Jack Anderson walked with the bases loaded, then pushing across two in the second thanks to a Central Arkansas error. Trever Morrison reached on a sacrifice bunt when the Bears (13-16 overall) attempted to get Trevor Larnach at third. The throw was wild, however, and Larnach scored the game's second run.

Donahue grounded out to score run No. 3, which was key as the Bears scored two in their half of the fourth to make it a one-run game.

Nick Madrigal got that run back with an RBI single in the fourth, then watched as Donahue's triple in the sixth put the Beavers up 5-2. KJ Harrison drove in the second run of the sixth on a sacrifice fly to right.

Jake Thompson started and worked 5 1/3 innings for the Beavers (21-7), scattering three hits and two runs. He walked three, struck out four and got the win to improve to 3-2 on the year.

Jordan Britton earned his first career save after three scoreless innings. He held Central Arkansas to just one hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Cody Davenport was Thompson's counterpart, and lasted five innings before being relieved by Chris Durham in the sixth. Davenport took the loss after allowing seven hits and four runs, dropping to 2-2.

The teams conclude their three-game non-conference series Sunday at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. PT. Tickets remain and can be purchased by visiting BeaverTickets.com. The ticket office at Goss Stadium will also open at 11 a.m.
