SAN DIEGO – Drew Rasmussen scattered four hits and a run over seven innings and KJ Harrison and Trever Morrison each tripled as the fourth-ranked Oregon State baseball team defeated San Diego, 7-2, Friday night at Fowler Park.

Rasmussen, making his third start of the season, gave up his first hit with two outs in the fourth, and backed by a strong OSU offense, cruised to his second win of the season. He struck out five through three, seven through five, and took the win to improve to 2-0 this season.

Offensively, the Beavers tallied 11 hits and took advantage of 10 walks by six San Diego pitchers. Harrison and Morrison tripled in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, to cap off the night offensively for the Beavers.

Oregon State chased San Diego (4-5) starter Troy Conyers after five innings. The left-hander allowed five hits and three runs in five innings. He took the loss, dropping to 1-2 this season.

The Beavers scored their first run on a wild pitch in the third, then went up 2-0 when Nick Madrigal doubled in the fifth. An inning later it was 3-0 thanks to a single by Morrison.

A five-walk seventh gave the Beavers some breathing room as OSU scored two to go up 5-1.

Harrison, Morrison, Kyle Nobach and Cadyn Grenier all finished with two hits in the win.

The Beavers return to Fowler Park Saturday to play two. Game one features Oregon State and William & Mary at 1 p.m. PT. Game two sees the Beavers take on San Diego. Game two will start approximately 45 minutes after the completion of game one.
