Beavers Look To Bounce Back Tuesday

THE GAME: Oregon State (2-2) is back on the road for a matchup against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (1-2) at 6 p.m. PT (8 p.m. CT) on Tuesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Tulsa, Okla.

QUICKLY: The eight players who didn't return played a combined 622 games at Oregon State; the nine returning players played a combined 232 games for the Beavers entering this season ... Tres Tinkle was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Nov. 14 after averaging 23.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over Prairie View A&M and UTSA ... Tinkle leads the team in scoring (17.8) and assists (3.0) and is second in rebounding (9.5), steals (1.0) and blocked shots (1.0) ... vs. TULSA: Oregon State and Tulsa meet for the third time with the series tied, 1-1.

The Golden Hurricane won the first matchup, 59-57, on Dec. 23, 1998 at the Pearl Harbor Classic in Laie, Hawai'i. Tulsa built a 39-21 halftime lead before a second-half Beaver rally fell just short. Deaundra Tanner was the lone Oregon State player in double figures with 22 points. Michael Ruffin had a double-double for Tulsa with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Marcus Hill and Greg Harrington each added 10 points.

The Beavers won last year, 76-71, on Dec. 19 at the Far West Classic Invite at the Moda Center in Portland. Tulsa built a 10-point lead, but the Beavers outscored the Golden Hurricane 48-37 in the second half for the comeback win. Gary Payton II had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Olaf Schaftenaar and Malcolm Duvivier added 11 points apiece to lead the Beavers. Rashad Smith scored a game-high 20 points for Tulsa.

RECRUITING CLASS: The 2017 class includes Zach Reichle, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard from Wilsonville, Ore., and Ethan Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Los Angeles, Calif.

Reichle attends Wilsonville High School and is rated the No. 1 player in Oregon for the upcoming season and a three-star recruit by ESPN. Last season he was a unanimous selection for 5A State Player of the Year.

Thompson attends Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, Calif., where he is a consensus four-star recruit and ranked No. 51 in the ESPN 100, making him the highest-rated player in program history.
