CORVALLIS, Ore. – Logan Ice hit his first career home run and Drew Rasmussen scattered just three hits and two runs in seven innings but the Oregon State baseball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Arizona Saturday in front of 3,351 fans at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Ice capped off a 12-pitch at bat in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot over the right field fence. Coming with two outs and off Arizona (24-12 overall, 9-8 Pac-12 Conference) starter Nathan Bannister, it put the Beavers (24-12, 7-7) up early, 1-0.

Arizona, however, answered with a two-run fifth when Scott Kingery laced a two-out single through the left side of the infield with two down and the bases loaded. It scored two and sent Rasmussen to the loss, pushing his record to 4-3 on the year.

Rasmussen struck out seven and issued four walks; he and Friday's starter, Andrew Moore, have combined to hold the Wildcats to just eight hits in the first two games of the series. Overall, thanks to a solo home run by Bobby Dalbec in the ninth, Arizona has nine hits in 18 innings over the two games.

Bannister earned the win for the Wildcats after scattering eight hits and a run in 6 1/3 innings. He is 6-1 on the year.

Bannister was relieved by Tyger Talley in the seventh, who proceeded to his first save after allowing one hit and a hit by pitch over 2 2/3 innings.

The teams play the series' rubber match Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT. Note, fans in the Portland area should tune into KEX as the Portland Trail Blazers will also be playing Sunday afternoon.
